Robert Allan, PhD, is an EFT Trainer, Supervisor, and Therapist. He is an Associate Professor in the Couple and Family Therapy program at the University of Colorado Denver. Robert has helped train and supervise therapists and students in Emotionally Focused Therapy across Canada, the US, and Great Britain. Robert’s interest in EFT extends to his research work where he has explored cultural adaptations of EFT. He is currently the co-Principal Investigator and supervising the Denver site for the first clinical trial of Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT). Robert completed his PhD at Dalhousie University, he is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Colorado, and an Approved Supervisor with the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy. Lisa Sydow, Ph.D., LPC will be the clinical lead and is an ICEEFT EFCT Certified Therapist and Supervisor in Boulder, CO. Lisa has been working with couples and families throughout her career for the past 35 + years. In 2010 Lisa began her training in EFT and was delighted to discover a coherent method that was founded on many years of research which also allowed her to incorporate her therapeutic style. Lisa most recently was one of the clinicians in the EFIT study and has helped create an LGBTQ+++ monthly group for Queer identified Colorado-based EFT clinicians. Lisa also is involved in establishing the LGBTQ+ EFT group – an international networking, mutual support, and learning group.

WIDENING PARTICIPATION:

I, and the trainers I work with, actively support widening participation in EFT training and EFT therapy to those in groups that are marginilized and with limited resources.

We offer reduced fee places on our EFT Core Skills for people who meet the following criteria:

  • You belong to one or more groups underrepresented in EFT therapy training, for example - counselors/MFTs/psychologists who are: Black, Asian, Latine, mixed race, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, disabled;

  • and / or

  • where a substantial part of your work is with minoritized and/or disadvantaged groups in society and you intend to continue with this work for a minimum of 2 more years;

and

  • where having a 25% or 50% reduction of the standard course fee ($1700) makes the difference between you being able to come on the course or not.

To apply for a reduced fee place please provide:

1) a brief essay (approximately 750 words) explaining:
- how you are eligible for the fee reduction and what difference having a fee reduction will make to your ability to attend;
- why you want to attend the course;
- anything else you think would be helpful
2) any supporting evidence e.g. a reference from your supervisor/employer/other confirming your eligibility and supporting your application; information about your work with minority or disadvantaged groups.

The Training team will review the applications and their decision will be final.
